Resumen:Durante el crecimiento y desarrollo de los cultivos para grano se presentan un conjunto de limitantes que impiden la obtención de los rendimientos potenciales. En particular, en los cultivos de verano realizados en secano se destacan las deficiencias hídricas como uno de los principales factores que afectan los rendimientos. En este trabajo se estimaron las necesidades potenciales de agua de los cultivos a través de la evapotranspiración de los cultivos (ETc) como forma de evaluar las necesidades potenciales de agua en los cultivos de verano y la evapotranspiración real (ETr) de los cultivos realizados en secano que ocurre en condiciones de campo. El estudio consistió en estimar la ETc y la ETr en soja de GM IV y VI, maíz, sorgo y girasol en dos regiones climáticamente contrastantes de Uruguay en un período de 24 años (1984/2007) utilizando el modelo WinISAREG. Las necesidades de agua variaron. Los años ?Niña? y ?Niño? se destacaron con los mayores y menores valores de ETc respectivamente. Las necesidades de agua estuvieron asociadas a la longitud de los ciclos. La ETc diaria fue superior en la localidad norte y la ETc total en la sur. La ETr obtenida fue sustancialmente menor que la ETc y de mayor variabilidad en la mayoría de las situaciones estudiadas. El girasol y el sorgo fueron los cultivos que presentaron menores diferencias entre la ETc y la ETr, y la soja y el maíz mostraron las mayores. |

Abstract: Winterhardiness is a complex trait that involves low temperature tolerance (LTT), vernalization sensitivity, and photoperiod sensitivity. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) for these traits were fi rst identifi ed using biparental mapping populations; candidate genes for all loci have since been identifi ed and characterized. In this research we used a set of 148 accessions consisting of advanced breeding lines from the Oregon barley (Hordeum vulgare L. subsp vulgare) breeding program and selected cultivars that were extensively phenotyped and genotyped with single nucleotide polymorphisms. Using these data for genome-wide association mapping we detected the same QTL and genes that have been systematically characterized using biparental populations over nearly two decades of intensive research. In this sample of germplasm, maximum LTT can be achieved with facultative growth habit, which can be predicted using a three-locus haplotype involving FR-H1, FR-H2, and VRN-H2. The FR-H1and FR-H2 LTT QTL explained 25% of the phenotypic variation, offering the prospect that additional gains from selection can be achieved once favorable alleles are fi xed at these loci. |
